NUTRITION IN FASTING AND NON-FASTING WOMEN DURING THE GREAT ORTHODOX LENT

Aim: To compare nutrition of fasting and non-fasting women in Moscow. Methods: Daily intake proteins, fats, carbohydrates their fractions, water- fat-soluble vitamins, macro-, micro- ultra trace elements as well the total caloric content diet was estimated 33 32 during Lent. Nutrition assessed by frequency analysis using Nutrilogic software. Results: Fasting had significantly higher (412 g vs. 174 g) fiber (42 17 g), but lower cholesterol (74 mg 401 mg) saturated fats (18 30 g). were less likely to consume insufficient amounts vitamins B1 (12 % 91 %), B3 (52 B5 B6 (48 88 B9 94 %) E (24 72 potassium (6 41 magnesium (21 iron 81 copper (3 %). P < 0.001 for all comparisons. All consumed amount vitamin D with food. Conclusion: Diet more favourable macro- micronutrient composition richer except D.
